Answer to Prayer in Miramichi
Now, brothers and sisters, it is with much joy and many thanks to our Heavenly Father, that I bring you
wonderful news from the Miramichi Company. On November 27, 2003, Miramichi Company took possession
of their own church building at 234 Pleasant Street, downtown Miramichi, NB, (former town of Newcastle).
This building was the former Salvation Army Church, which is located in the heart of the community; a location, which we feel, will be of an advantage when providing the various outreach programs. This church building is the realization of many answered prayers. The Lord’s influence first began back in 1981 when Pastors
Grant Gunter and Cash Cagle held an evangelistic campaign in Miramichi which saw the conversion of Dorothy & John Doiron along with their daughters, Grace & Tara.
Over the years, the Doirons have seen others join the church and then leave to go west for work or to further their studies at CUC. One such couple was Carol and Leonard Foote, who eventually returned to Miramichi in 1993.
The Doirons and the Footes were attending different churches at this time. Carol tells the story of how she
prayed for a family to fellowship with.
Meanwhile, in the Acadian Peninsula, Pastor Lisebye Luchmun had received a call from South Africa.
Dr. Ronald Harebottle, his wife Gillian and daughters, Sarah-Jane and Gayle, wanted to come to Canada
and inquired as to an Adventist presence on the Miramichi. Imagine! All the way from South Africa to
Miramichi! The Lord was definitely at work.
The summer of 1999 saw the Harebottles and the Footes join the Doiron family for worship. They began to
meet at the Napan Community Hall and on December 12, 1999, the Miramichi Company was organized.
In December 2002, following Revelation Speaks Peace, Heather and Minard Fletcher, along with their son,
Nathan, were baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Raymonde Spin of Bathurst was also
baptized that same day. Her husband, Albertus, was baptized the following February in 2003.
We could see the Lord at work in Miramichi and wanted to see that work continue. Our own church
building; a place to call ‘home,’ where we could be a visible influence in the community, would be nothing
short of a miracle. We believed that if it was to be His will, all this would be worked out and the purchase
of 234 Pleasant Street in Miramichi is the answer to prayer.
Now the work begins. This building will give us the opportunity to extend ourselves into the community
via outreach programs. Now we can bring the Lord’s Word to many more.
Brothers and sisters, we encourage you to be a part of this mission by whatever means possible.
The Miramichi Seventh-day Adventist Company’s church is in need of many items to be able to do the Lord’s
work. This building has no pews for it stadium style floor. We also need platform chairs, hymnals, books for
a lending library, a PA system, communion table, kitchen ware, chairs, a rocking chair, crib, playpen and
change table for a mother’s room and Sabbath School materials, etc.
If you have any of these items you would like to donate, please contact Heather Fletcher:

We welcome you to visit us at 234 Pleasant Street, Miramichi, NB.
Many thanks for your consideration and may the Lord keep you well until we meet again in the next issue of
the Maritime Pulse.
